In this post, we’re looking at two new-to-us colors from essie.

These polishes are almost a decade old, but you can still buy them today and yes, they’re still in production.

Both shades are from the 2017 Wild Nudes Collection, which was originally released in May 2017 with these 9 shades:

The colors in the essie 2017 Wild Nudes Collection include:

  • without a stitch – a light gray

  • mooning – a shadowy light blue

  • exposed – a mossy green

  • truth or bare – a light cinnamon brown

  • clothing optional – a natural sienna brown

  • winning streak – a grayish purple

  • skinny dip – a light peach pink

  • bare with me – an apricot tone

  • wild nude – a light tan

Today without a stitch and wild nude are our feature shades.

When I first started this blog, essie was one of the brands I collected the most. They make so many shades that it might take years before I ever try them all.

Still, I’ve enjoyed the process of getting there and all the lovely colors I’ve tried so far.

Although these colors are 9 years old this year, I have yet to try or feature them so today we are going to do just that.

I will try any essie color, as I’m somewhat adventurous about this brand.

I’ve come to love essie for their wide color variety, easy accessibility and solid lineup of base and top coats.

When you love something, you’re more likely to give new things a try because the love opens your heart and that’s how I am with essie nail polish.

I’ve figured out which top coats I love most, which base coats are my favorites, and I’ve even developed go-to shades that I’ve repurchased multiple times and featured in more than one post.

These days, I continue to gravitate toward essie because I know what works and because you all seem to love essie too.

So will these shades become our new favorite colors? We’ll find out!

Let’s talk about today’s highlighted shades.

We’re looking at two neutrals from this collection, and I love neutral nail colors because I find them soothing.

Sometimes you don’t want a bright manicure. Sometimes your eyes just need a break.

On those days, I reach for neutrals. If I ever feel like there’s too much going on, I tone things down with my manicure.

A great neutral polish can really simplify the day.

Without further ado, below are the wild nude swatches.

Starting with essie without a stitch and then moving to wild nude:

Shown in two coats, this is a dove gray crème.

It’s a soft, soothing cool neutral that looks like a flat gray in the bottle, but on the nails it has a subtle taupe-beige, slightly lilac undertone that warms it up beautifully.

This soft taupe-beige is a fawn neutral crème and it is the namesake shade from the collection. It’s understated, wearable and exactly the kind of neutral that works for a simple, but polished manicure.

Both of these swatches are shown with the essie strong start base coat and essie gel couture top coat.

I prepped my nails for these manicures by removing prior polish, buffing, filing and shaping my nails, then using the Blue Cross Beauty Cuticle Remover and a cuticle pusher to clean up the cuticle area.

I like cuticle removers because they make swatches look nicer, but they also serve the useful purpose of removing dried bits of skin from the nail, creating a smoother surface for longer lasting adhesion.

After the cuticle removal, I washed my hands, dehydrated the nail plate with isopropyl alcohol and began painting.

Sometimes the prep is more careful work than the painting itself, and I found that true with both these shades, which were a breeze to apply.

So, we’ve completed our blast from the past with these wild nudes.
