essie expressie is essie’s quick dry line.

expressie polishes do not require a base or a top coat, however, you can always add a base coat, for increased wear time and smoothed ridges, or a top coat, for increased wear time and shine.

expressie nail polishes come in taller, more rectangular bottles than the standard essie polishes, which are more squat in shape.

They also come with a slanted brush inside the expressie bottle, which can improve the speed at which you can apply polish with your non-dominant hand.

The slanted brush does allow you to get closer to the sides of the nail, without touching the skin, reducing the amount of time you spend doing cuticle touch ups.

These polishes are truly colors you can apply within thirty minutes of having to get going. You can also throw them in your purse to do your manicure or touch it up once you get to your destination.

We have covered other expressies before on Lots of Lacquer, including now or never, desk mani, precious cargo-go! and don’t hate, curate.

Below you will find swatches of five more expressies to give you an idea of their wear and look.

All swatches below are shown without a base or top coat.

Starting with a neutral gray, in the modem:

essie expressie in the modem swatch

in the modem 335

in the modem is a neutral light dove gray cream nail polish that is opaque in two easy coats.

essie expressie strong at 1% swatch

strong at 1% 150

strong at 1% is a carrot cream orange nail polish that’s opaque in two coats. It is an earthier orange, essie calls it a “spiced coral.” It’s a great color if you like orange yet need a more balanced look.

essie expressie trend & snap swatch

trend & snap 30

trend & snap is a sweet pink polish with silver sparkles that’s opaque in two coats.

essie expressie mic drop-it-low swatch

mic drop-it-low 250

mic drop-it-low is opaque in two coats and a magenta glitter nail polish. It’s one of the rare expressie glitter colors.

essie expressie breaking the bold swatch

breaking the bold 260

breaking the bold is a burgundy nail polish with a pearl finish that’s opaque in two coats.

If you like burgundy pearls like OPI’s I’m Not Really A Waitress, this color is in that same vein, though it is a bit darker.

To end, essie expressies are handy nail polishes to have in your collection, even if you just get a few of your favorite colors in this quick dry formula, they are nice to have for a fast and easy manicure.

Most of the colors are cream finish, however, there are a few glitters as shown above, and essie just came out with a line of shimmering expressie toppers, called essie expressie fx, which allows you to add a suite of glitter finishes to accent your base color.
