OPI Alpaca My Bags comes from the Fall 2018 OPI Perú collection and it is a dusty, cool cream blue nail polish with gray undertones.

It reminds me of clouds, overcast skies and days when you just want a soft, gentle touch. I love muted tones like this one for fall and winter, and I especially reach for them on days when I’m looking for a cuddle in a bottle.

Most of the time, these cuddle in a bottle shades bring to mind dusty roses, terracotta neutrals and warm mauve tones. But blues like OPI Alpaca My Bags can offer that too and this shade proves it clearly.

Also the name alone reminds you of cuddles - just thinking about alpacas, you know their fur is amazingly warm and cozy. You’ll never have to worry about being cold or wet wearing an alpaca sweater or a pair of alpaca socks.

There are a few alpaca farms near me that source these things and not only are the alpacas themselves cute, their fiber, yarn and clothing items are so useful.

I might just Alpaca My Bags to the nearest farm after I finish updating this post.

OPI Alpaca My Bags is a nice “rainy day blue,” as it looks a lot like the colors you see in the environment on a rainy day. This is a classy, muted blue color.

It is easy to apply, dries fairly quickly, and sets evenly with little to no effort. Polishes that require the least amount of effort are the best, aren’t they?

OPI Alpaca My Bags: The Perfect Rainy-Day Blue You Didn’t Know You Needed
This shade is discontinued in the Infinite Shine version, which is the long wearing color that’s shown, but don’t worry, you can still find it in both standard lacquer and the GelColor formula.

OPI is great in that they make the same shade in multiple formula types so no matter what OPI formula I show on the blog, you have options. And it’s a pretty fair match across their different lines.

One of the reasons it’s awesome their shades are convertible across formulas is because if you fall in love with the color, you keep the shade but can then expand and explore across all the different nail art options.

So back to the polish.

Both of the formulas can be long wearing with the right techniques.

With the GelColor, pair your color with the OPI GelColor Base and Top Coat, plus the OPI Lamp. In my experience, OPI GelColor works best and lasts longest as a complete OPI system.

With the standard lacquer, when you pair a standard lacquer OPI shade with the long wearing base and top coat - it sandwiches your color in the long wearing matrix, extending your manicure.

This is one of my favorite nail polish hacks to lengthen wear time.

You just take the long wearing base and/or top coat and pair it with the standard formula and ta-da, you’ve now converted your regular polish to a long lasting one.

I do this with so many brands and love it, it’s such an easy way to use your products to their fullest potential.
