Their goal is to help all people get inspired to express their individuality through the art of color.
They take pride in their ability to offer on-trend, innovative shades with exceptional quality.
If you’re wondering if these two are the same brand - they are not.
L.A. Girl is different from L.A. Colors. Think of them like sisters, not the same individual, but related to each other.
While they are both owned by the same company, Beauty 21, these are two separate brands that offer different product lines, are sold at different prices and found at different retailers. They both have their own separate websites too!
I’ve shared L.A. Girl nail polishes on the blog in the past, and am a big fan of the economical nail polish brands, like L.A. Colors, so when L.A. Girl sent their 5 new Spring nail shades, I was eager to find a way to share them.
As someone who tests nail polish every week, sometimes every day, I think L.A. Girl nail polish is good - I love their color variety, their price and their formulas.
It’s not a true gel polish that requires UV curing, it does not need a UV nail light.
It’s gel-like - the formula is on the thicker side, it’s plumping on the nail and it does resist chipping, but it is an air-dry polish that dries quickly. I found that it dries in just a few minutes and once it is dry, it does not smudge.
Because they recently launched 5 new shades for the Spring, I think it’s time we take a look at them. Below are the newest colors from the L.A. Girl Gel Extreme Shine line.
L.A. Girl Gel Extreme Shine Polish Swatches:
All swatches shown in 2 coats.
L.A. Girl Barely There
I love this one - it’s a off-white pinkish beige, very similar to essie’s ballet slippers that I could easily call this a lower cost alternative, but it is a bit more opaque.
It’s not quite a full coverage cream, as there is a bit of jelly-like translucency to it, so I would call it a medium coverage sheer.
A gorgeous light neutral.
L.A. Girl Warm Embrace
Warm Embrace is a super wearable neutral.
It’s a warm, rosy medium beige cream - if you have a warmer skin tone, this is definitely a “your nails but better color,” that you could easily wear to work, job interviews or in any other situation where you would want a classy, professional look.
L.A. Girl On Target
Shown in 2 coats, On Target is a red nail polish that’s bright, creamy and rich in color. This one reminds me of OPI’s Big Apple Red but just a touch brighter and more summery.
L.A. Girl Vivid Dream
I love the name of this one. It’s a purple-pink shimmery hybrid that I think we can safely call a fuschia.
Depending on the lighting, it can look more purple or pink, and it is very sparkly in direct sunlight, which makes it fun to enjoy it outdoors.
L.A. Girl Stormy
Last but not least, we have this beauty. When I first saw Stormy in the bottle, I was expecting a navy blue cream polish, but it is not!
It’s a dark navy blue jelly that reminds me of deep cobalt or sapphire colored glassware.
Totally unexpected, but this navy blue polish has a glass-like translucence to it. It’s really visible when you look at it outside in the sun.
All in all, these L.A. Girl nail polishes each have something beautiful to offer. Whether it is a soft, professional look, a bright cheerfulness, a sparkly glow or glass-like effect, there is something special to admire.
What I like about them all, besides how shiny they are and how plump they look on your nail, is that they offer even coverage in 2 coats - not a single one requires a 3rd coat - which is pretty remarkable, too.
Which shade do you like the most?
