In this post, you’re going to see a comparison between two lovely sheer essie gel couture shades. I love both of these colors and enjoy them equally as part of my collection.
essie gel couture is my favorite long wearing nail polish line. I regularly wear these shades when I’m not swatching colors for the blog and I also seek them out when I’m making purchases for colors to feature.
What I love about this line is that it’s economical in that it doesn’t need a base coat. It’s just the color and the top coat. I also love the bottle design and most of all, the formula is reliable.
With good manicure prep, gel couture shades do last longer than your standard nail colors.
essie gel couture is now also known as gel by essie, but, however it’s branded, it’s a long-wear essie polish that doesn’t require a UV lamp.
gel couture fairy tailor is an essie best seller.
Both fairy tailor and sheer fantasy have these facts in common:
Made by essie
Long wear formula
Sheer finish
However, because they’re both best selling sheers from the same brand in the same formula, they’re often compared and contrasted to one another.
To clear up any confusion between what is what, below you’ll see the differences between essie gel couture fairy tailor and essie gel couture sheer fantasy.

Now for the final comparison photo:
There is only one slight difference between these two colors.
fairy tailor is a light, warm, pink nude. You could also call it a light neutral beige with pink undertones.
sheer fantasy is a cool light milky pink. You could also call it a sheer pink with white undertones. It’s so milky it reminds me of essie mademoiselle.
Overall, the main difference is that fairy tailor is more of a nude and sheer fantasy is more of a pink.
Both of these can be worn on their own or a base for nail art - my favorite way to wear them is as the foundation for a classic or ombré french tip.
So, what are you in the mood for? A nude leaning pink or a milky pink?
