Revlon is one of the founding companies of the nail polish industry and they’re still in the business today.
They first launched their own nail polish lacquers as cream enamels in 1932 - 25 years before Sally Hansen and 57 years before OPI.
While they have had ups and downs, a recent down being a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, being around for 93 years is an accomplishment.
Sinful Colors is a brand under their umbrella, but it seems to have been somewhat sidelined since the bankruptcy.
There haven't been any new collections or social media activity, which suggests it's no longer a focus.
That’s often the reality with financial restructuring — some parts of the business inevitably get less attention.
Resources tend to be reallocated to what’s most profitable or strategic, and in this case, that seems to be the core Revlon line and CND, at least within the nail polish segment.
I still appreciate what Sinful Colors brought to the table. It was accessible, fun and had some truly creative collections over the years.
That said, it’s clear the people behind Revlon have grit, tenancity, perseverance and resilience. They can adapt to market challenges and meet them.
When a beauty brand has lasting power it’s admirable. It makes me curious as to what exactly their X factor is.
Though Revlon got its start in nail polish, it's since evolved to being involved in cosmetics, skin care, hair care, perfumes and more.
It’s a full service beauty firm now, yet, it still produces nail lacquers in the iconic Revlon bottle shape.
Today we’re going to look at swatches of the Super Lustrous Nail Enamel from Revlon.
They also own CND, an industry leader in the gel manicure space that offers a whole suite of products related to professional salon manicures.
These nail polishes are quietly clean. There aren’t any nasty chemicals in Super Lustrous Nail Enamel.

Revlon Pure Pearl
A classic white pearl polish is a staple in any collection. A single coat of white pearl over bare nails is my go-to when I need my nails to look good fast.
Revlon Blushing
This demure pink pearl is filled with gold pearl. It offers a gorgeous warm pink shimmer with a lady-like feel.
Revlon Daydreamer
Daydreamer is a shifty purple pearl that has an overtone of gold to green flash depending on the ambient lighting.
Revlon Electric
It’s a fun, pearlescent electric to neon pink. I love this one for Valentine’s Day nails.
Revlon Irresistible
This is a light cornflower blue cream that’s perfect for winter blue nails or summer pedicures.
Revlon Totally Toffee
This is our #1 shade on Pinterest right now.
It’s the unexpected champion for this year’s fall nails, the hot shade for this season. If for some reason this shade is out of stock online, check your local CVS - they usually have it.
Revlon Revlon Red
Revlon Red is a gorgeous bright red cream. A perfect shade for date night or for whenever you want to tap into Red Nail Theory.
Revlon Divine
A deep, black cherry red pearl. This is one of my favorites for the holiday season. Some online listings show this as a plum cream - it’s not. It’s a pearlescent dark burgundy.
Revlon Vixen
This vampy shade from the 90’s is still going strong. This is another Pinterest favorite for this season.
What I love about this shade is that it does very well with no top coat. If you want to add one for longevity, you can, but it’s shiny enough and lasts long enough without.
All in all Revlon nail polishes are affordable and glossy. They have a clean formula and you can still find them in the signature Revlon bottle shape.
So while the newest brand launch is always just around the corner, let’s remember Revlon. A nail polish brand who, all those years ago, created the resources for us to enjoy this beautiful form of art.
