Today we’re going to be exploring a blue nail color that’s been in my collection for quite a while - Essie Butler Please.

Based on historical records, it was released in the Fall of 2012 as part of Essie’s Winter Collection, Leading Lady, and I probably picked it up 5-6 years ago.

So let’s bring ourselves back to 2012.

The Leading Lady Collection - its catch phrase was, “A leading lady is always dressed to thrill.”

This collection included 6 shades: Butler Please plus She’s Pampered, Snap Happy, Where’s My Chauffeur, Leading Lady and Beyond Cozy.

Back then, this collection was also promoted as DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde free as 3-free was still a new thing.

Based on what I can see, Butler Please is the only color from that collection still available.

And today, Butler Please is an iconic electric blue nail polish that I associate with summer and beach days.

I always think of cobalt blue nail colors like this for summer but, I can also see how this nail polish would be excellent during a cool, January snow storm.

Butler Please is a bright blue creme nail color that’s easy to apply and offers full coverage in 2 coats.

It’s striking and it’s a go-to shade of mine, especially as a pedicure in the warmer months.

Because we are now approaching the anniversary of the original release date which was early October 2012, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit this shade now.

So let’s take a look at swatches of Essie Butler Please:

Because Butler Please is technically a “neon” blue, I suggest pairing it with a long-wear top coat, as neon shades are prone to chipping.

The Essie Gel Couture and Gel Setter Top Coats are my favorites. Essie also makes a long wearing base coat, called Here to Stay, which is designed to extend wear for 2 days.

Neon shades can also fade over time, but my bottle is now over 5 years old and it’s still just as bright as ever - I store it in a drawer in the closet to prevent it from losing its brightness due to sunlight.

All in all, what do you think of Butler Please? Would you wear a bright blue cream polish like this?

For me, I think it is quite a beautiful blue shade, and since blue nail colors are trending at the moment, I’ve been finding myself thinking about this color more and more.

If you haven’t tried Essie Butler Please yet, and you like blue nail polishes, I would recommend this color. This shade has been in production for 14 years and a fan favorite for a reason - it’s vibrant, creamy and eye-catching.
