The shades OPI Love is in the Bare and Bubble Bath were gifted by Beyond Polish and OPI Dutch Tulips was gifted by Zulily as PR samples, but all opinions are my own.
In this post, you’ll find an easy, customizable blended sheer nail color that will work for either the lip gloss or soap nails trend.
Have you ever wondered if creating your own custom nail color is worth the experimentation?
Been curious if mixing your nail colors would be a good way to enjoy your investment?
If so, you’re in the right place because I do it all the time!
If I’m wondering what certain colors would look like together, I might just whip something up.
A lot of times you can make your own blended nail shade simply by layering your favorite colors over top of one another, though you can blend them together in one bottle.
It turned out and was exactly what I needed for the moment.
Sometimes, it's a wash, but you’re glad you tried it and scratched it off the list. Other times, you really do stumble upon a masterpiece, like the shade we’ll be looking at today.
Of all the layered nail color combinations I’ve shown you, so far your favorite is OPI Bubble Bath and Funny Bunny Combo, which creates like a milky, peachy pink.
It has been so popular, worldwide in fact, that OPI created a bottled blend in this year's Spring 2026 Collection, OPI OPI’m A Bubble Bunny.
My favorite way to layer these shades is putting Funny Bunny on the bottom and Bubble Bath on the top, but you can switch that order and see what you like.
OPI Bubble Bath is a warm sheer pink that’s available in every formula OPI makes - including OPI GelColor.
I wanted to see what layering these two would look like together, and I could not be more pleased with the outcome.
For the swatches below, I originally planned a simple swatch of OPI Love is in the Bare, which is a forthcoming post, but halfway through, I had an overwhelming feeling I needed to see what Bubble Bath looked like on top of it so here we are.
Below are swatches of 1 layer of Love is in the Bare on the bottom and 1 layer of Bubble Bath on the top.
OPI Love is in the Bare and OPI Bubble Bath Combo
Shown in 2 coats, this combo creates a mix of cool and sheer pink to create a neutral sheer pink look. It reminds me of essie’s sugar daddy, but a little more plump, as it is gel.
I took all the photos in natural lighting - some photos in the early morning with soft, sunny light and some in the afternoon with cool, overcast light.
The combo can be shifty.
This nail look is cooler in cooler settings and warmer in warmer settings.
For example, inside at my desk, Love is in the Bare’s coolness takes center stage, when outside at sunset, Bubble Bath’s warmth really comes through.
I had hesitated to post these photos, since this layered combo was just a personal test, but I’ve received several compliments on these nails.
I have a personal rule that if I receive compliments on my nails when out and about in my neighborhood, I have to post them.
One complimenter said the look resembled a natural French Manicure - and I didn’t even add any white, so it just amplifies the natural white on your nails.
I absolutely love when a nail look makes your nails look like a French Manicure, but you don't have to do any extra work for that.
How to create this OPI Love is in the Bare and Bubble Bath Combo:
- Prep your nails for a gel manicure using the techniques in this OPI Gel Manicure How To Blog
- Use the OPI Star Light to cure your OPI Gels
- Shake the bottles to mix the pigments and work 1 hand at a time
- Apply 1 coat of OPI Intelli-Gel GelColor Super Base
- Apply OPI GelColor Love is in the Bare and cure for 30 seconds
- Apply 1 coat of OPI GelColor Bubble Bath and cure for 30 seconds
- Apply 1 coat of OPI Intelli-Gel GelColor Super Gloss and cure for 30 seconds
- Remove the tacky layer with lint free wipes and isopropyl alcohol
The higher the concentration of the cleansing alcohol you use at the end, the better. If you can get 99% great, but I’ve used 70-99% with no issues to speak of yet. I’m using 91% from a rural grocery store’s first aid section at the moment.
Finish with your favorite cuticle oil, moisturizer and enjoy!
What I think I love most about these nails is they are so presentable, polished and professional looking.
I feel comfortable wearing them in corporate settings and when working with clients for other projects outside of this blog.
Since they’re a neutral sheer, they give my nails a “my nails, but more polished” look, so they work with any outfit. They are clean and elegant, but don’t draw attention to themselves.
While I have yet to try the other layering options yet, I’m now interested in trying this combo in other ways - reversing the layering order, doubling one layer and not the other, sandwiching the layers (i.e Love is in the Bare on bottom, Bubble Bath in middle, Love is in the Bare on top).
Have you tried layering this shade? Are there any Love is in the Bare layering combos I should try next?
