OPI is revisiting its archives with their Fall 2026 Most Requested Collection, bringing back 12 cult classic shades in standard lacquer and gel color, along with 12 favorites in Infinite Shine.

As I’ve featured OPI’s collections over the years, I’ve always enjoyed digging into the history behind the brand’s shades and revisiting older posts with new research and insights.

OPI is one of my favorite polish brands, and they’ve been around since 1989, so getting to explore its archives and learn more about the stories behind these iconic colors is something I genuinely enjoy.

Both the original lacquer/gel lineup and the Infinite Shine release caught my attention, but when Beyond Polish asked which I’d prefer to feature, I chose the original lacquer collection.

I especially wanted to try Every Month is Oktoberfest and Vampire State Building, which you’ll see below.

For this collection, OPI has brought back beloved shades in versions inspired by the originals, while some have been remixed in today’s formulas and preferences.

Because I’m a polish collector and love the history behind these shades, we’re going to look at them chronologically, based on when each color was originally released.

I thought it would be fun to see how the collection moves through different eras of OPI and perhaps even spot some of the styles and trends that defined each one.

So, without further ado, let’s begin with the earliest shade in the collection…

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Route Beer Float - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Route Beer Float NLF043

First released in the Fall/Winter 1997 Route 66 Collection, this is a shimmery caramel brown with vanilla undertones. You could call it a soft copper pearl, but it is more of a reddish-brownish copper than an orange one.

It’s opaque in 1 coat, but shown here in 2 coats.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Vampire State Building - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Vampire State Building NLF042

For my fellow supernatural-loving polish fans, Vampire State Building is a legend from the Fall/Winter 2000 New York City Collection, and it is a vampy blood red nail polish, said to be “so dark it could rule the New York skyline.”

A lot of chatter online is saying it is similar to Como se Llama?

But in my opinion, as a Como se Llama? devotee, Vampire State Building is even darker, and it has more purple undertones.

If you’re a fan of OPI burgundy nail polishes, as I am, this is one I highly recommend as an addition to your rotation.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI It’s All Greek To Me - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI It’s All Greek To Me NLF041

This gorgeous shade originally debuted in Spring 2004 Greek Isles and is back for another round.

It’s a vibrant hot pink with a delicate gold microshimmer that gives it a beautiful glow.

After seeing a bottle of the original of this shade yesterday, I’d say in this new one, the shimmer is finer and there is less fuchsia in it.

Either way, it’s a fun, goddess-worthy pink.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Lincoln Park At Midnight NLF046

Inspired by the iconic midnight purple, Lincoln Park After Dark, from the Fall 2005 Chicago Collection, Lincoln Park at Midnight is a shimmery, pearlescent cousin.

If you picked up Lincoln Park After Brunch this last spring, you’ll notice this shade is a finer shimmer compared to that - it’s more pearlescent.

Also, the shimmer is more moonlight-silver forward, whereas Lincoln Park After Brunch had some gold and purple in there too.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Mod About You Pastel - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Mod About You Pastel NLF037

First seen in the Summer 2006 Brighter by the Dozen Collection, Mod About You is the inspiration for Mod About You Pastel, which is described as a soft, creamy, almost white, milky sister to the original, which is a much bolder pink pastel.

For a quicker drying time, pair it with a quick dry top coat or drying drops.

You could wear this in 2 coats for a sheerer, milkier look, but I decided to go for 3 coats for the full opacity. It is a crispy, bright whitish pink, if you like Let’s Be Friends! and Lisbon Wants Moor OPI, you’ll like this.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Don’t Over Ink It - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Don’t Over Ink It NLF047

Don’t Over Ink It is inspired by OPI Ink. which is originally from the Spring 2007 Night Brights Collection.

Shown in 2 coats, Don’t Over Ink It has a shimmer that is a bit finer in this navy blue pearl with violet undertones. Dark blue nails like this are trending right now, so I’m glad they did a navy blue nail color in this collection.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Vodka & Caviar - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Vodka & Caviar NLF048

This classic red crème nail color is a luxurious and timeless shade from the Fall 2007 Russian Collection.

It has a rich, velvety quality that feels right at home with today’s quiet luxury trend, while still delivering the timeless impact red nail theory lovers are after.

It’s refined, polished, and effortlessly glamorous. I could see this becoming my new go-to red. It has a great vibe to it.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI France-y Seeing You Here - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI France-y Seeing You Here NLF039

Shown in 3 coats, this mauve nude creme nail polish is homage to Tickle My France-y, from the Fall 2008 France Collection (also called La Collection de France), one of the first shades I swatched for the blog.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest NLF040

First released in Fall 2012 Germany Collection this cult classic is the vampy deep purple shimmer everyone has been fawning over in collector groups.

I’m glad to see it back, especially since finding older bottles meant paying collector prices from resellers.

At those prices, I’d still have the added concern of how well a decades-old bottle had been stored and whether the formula would need to be restored before use.

Having the opportunity to purchase it freshly made again makes enjoying this classic shade much easier.

I was just biding my time until it was reborn to try it, and here we are - the patience paid off.

Now that I am trying it, you could call it a dark purple shimmer, but to me, it could also be defined as a dark, blue-toned red shimmer. The first coat is where you really see the blue-based undertones.

For a quicker drying time, pair it with a quick dry top coat or drying drops.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Berlin There, Doin’ That - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Berlin There, Doin’ That NLF045

I’m glad OPI remixed this one because taupe nail colors have been really popular recently.

Berlin There, Doin’ That is the lighter alternative inspired by Berlin There, Done That, which is also from the Fall 2012 Germany Collection, but it is a cooler, darker taupe nail color.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Suzi Take a Vow - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Suzi Take A Vow NLF038

Shown in 3 coats, this pale peach creme nail polish was inspired by Baby, Take a Vow, a warm, sheer peachy pink from the Spring 2019 Always Bare for You Collection. It’s more opaque and peachier than the original.

Gifted by Beyond Polish - OPI Throw Me a Wink - use code LOTSOFLACQUER for 10% OFF on eligible items at Beyond Polish

OPI Throw Me A Wink NLF044

Throw Me a Wink is a sheer pale pink creme nail polish inspired by Throw Me a Kiss, another shade from the Spring 2019 Always Bare for You Collection that is a sheer shimmery cool pink nail color.

It's gorgeous, barely there, your nails but better, a wash of pinkish nude color.

This is 2 coats, the 1st coat, my nail ridges did show, but on the second coat, everything smoothed over. I recommend using a feather-light touch with your brush when applying.
